Found this link on another forum which should help in establishing approximately the amount of gas left in one's gas bottle by weight.

How much gas have we got, exactly zero as we found out this evening when cooking supper. Quick dash to Haverhill where the jet station that sells LPG for Safefill bottles only to find that their pump requires the new fangled extension which of course we don’t have! I will try the CL at Hellions Bumpsted (don’t you just love the village name) in the morning as we will be that way.
