Bus pass for mobility scooters
#1
Not sure if this is in the right place, if not, could it be moved please?

On our last trip away we encountered a problem regarding using public transport in Weymouth, while riding a mobility scooter.
To cut a long story short, ( the result of which involved me writing a complaint against a driver of FIrst transport) we were refused access onto a bus to take us from Weymouth, back to our CL at Nottington.
The reason being, was because we didn't have a pass to say that Alfiesmum had been assessed and was capable and competent to ride her mobility scooter onto the bus and into the reserved wheelchair bay safely.
How we were supposed to know these rules being a tourist, is beyond me. Also, we were allowed to use the bus in the morning to go into Weymouth, with no mention of these passes. These point and others have been raised by me and sent to the MD of First transport group,
It may be worth while checking the local bus company's rules wherever you may be going, so as not to suffer the same fate as us, if you or yours use a mobility scooter

That's rather inconsistent! I suspect it is possibly a local clause, I bet they have had an accident and done a half hearted risk assessment, without thought for visitors?

Correction on that one! There is a mobility scooter code apparently for buses, looks like you do need a pass, and not just locally. Something for scooter retailers to push on behalf of customers? Still inconsistent checking by drivers though!

In our home, dog fur is a fashion accessory! It's also a condiment....... Yay!  Heart
