Hmmm ? Dilemma indeed Tigs ?.  You said you don't really want to give it up so maybe an idea to see this season out and see how you perform after your surgery. As suggested having a seasonal pitch down that neck of the woods sounds marvellous and if you do make reasonable recovery to carry on you just simply soldier on. I'm not too sure how much money you could loose hanging on to your van for another year but I certainly think you are going to miss it if you do let it go. Yes a hard one indeed .... Undecided

TF, if it were my decision, I would seriously consider the seasonal pitch, maybe moving the van to a new location year on year, through either the CC or CCC with the help in moving by an able bodied mate or relative. That way, you would still have your luxury and space, plus the beauty of popping off at a whim without the hassle of loading up etc. I'm thinking that the loss of space in a M'home may be a deal breaker for you both. While a M'home may seem to be the answer initially, as has been said, it's an expensive switch only to find that you may have made a mistake. The other option is maybe to hire one for the weekend. Good luck with your tough decision.

You talk a lot of sense, AD. Many people swapping to MHs try to replicate the space they had in their cvans and, while it's possible, the end result is an unwieldy behemoth. TF would also be looking at 3500kg or less, I reckon.

Although a MH may be a solution, I still think trying a seasonal is a good compromise.

I agree TW, lets hope that TF can sort out a good compromise for them both thumbup

Some very good advice already given and agree that the MoHo option is available but with the already mentioned caveats. The move to MH is not for everyone and if driving is an issue that might rule it out, and as has already been said you cannot achieve the same amount of space without getting a huge setup. The cost is another consideration. The seasonal pitch does appear to be very appealing and moving it from year to year sounds good
TF you and your family are the only ones who can make the final decision and hopefully some of the above advice can assist. We swopped from caravan to MH a year last September and for us it was the right decision at the right time and if you have any questions I would be happy to share our experience and reasons behind the move,

Sorry to hear about your issues, TF, and what a dilemma to have. I would agree with everyone above - don't do anything in haste, and a seasonal pitch sounds a sensible option while you consider the future. Motorhoming may be the way to go, but only you can make the decision - less space, slightly less mobility while on site - but that might suit you. Sending best wishes for everything that's due to happen.

Thanks to every one, my favourite option is TDA's. I REALLY don't want to give up! Personally I would happily change to MH but now the funds are not that plentiful. At best the ML is worth 12k and the Pastiche about £13. I really don't think that we would get similar comfort & space in a £25k motorhome!

Driving the ML & towing is not the problem, it is the setting up & taking down. We have long ceased using the big awning, so once set up its only the aqua roll and the waste master which I can just about manage if its not too far. Last year I did use the Porch awning,- I can do it if its grass, and the pegs co-operate!

So I guess it will be St Buryan, at least for this year.

Finally re the MH idea, the DCOS thinks that her Honda Jazz is huge, refuses point blank to even try the ML. The Motorhome idea is equal to suggesting she drives an HGV!

Back to TDA's recommendation !
