The Three Oaks CL, Cresselly near Tenby, Pembrokeshire
#1
We spent almost a week on this very nice CL in September, in some of the worst weather we have ever endured while touring! The site is a very nice large grassed area, with a number of Ehu points around the sheltered boundaries. There is one gravelled hard standing area, but in dry weather, the field would probably be fine for all but the largest of MHs with care. The owner likes to meet and say hello to all visitors, and is very friendly and helpful, will pass on local gems, but on the whole prefers to leave his guests to themselves unless help is required.

The site is very quiet, even in the daytime, with only the odd car passing the entrance drive. Yet it is easy to get about as major routes are close by, lovely Carew Castle is only a short half hour walk away. The single toilet and shower is housed in an old farm building, in truth a tad rustic, but we found it always clean and tidy. Selwyn the owner has just obtained planning permission to upgrade this, so work should make this a better facility in the future. The outbuilding also houses an efficient washing machine and tumble dryer, both on a pay to use meter.
The site has free wifi, which worked fairly well, depending upon how many were online in evenings.

For dog owners, the lanes straight from the site are very quiet, we had no problems letting our two off lead all week.

There is a single tap for drinking water, and the elsan point is a floor level drain with rinsing tap.

There are no shops close by, but a nice pub serves meals in Carew, and Cresselly Quay is close by with another real ale pub. We found the location very good for getting out and about, and indeed went up to St David's (around an hour drive) Marloes, via Pembroke Dock in around an hour, Narberth is half hour away, 15/20 minutes drive to Pembroke, Manorbier, Tenby. We used the Aldi in Pembroke Dock, and the Morrisons at Haverfordwest for cheapest fuel.

This is a nice, old fashioned, unfussy CL, offering a warm welcome, peace and quiet and easy access to lots of places. A decent price for a site with more than basic services. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.

The owner uses this for CAMC members, and has a totally separate field for none members, next door.

Two views of the CL field, very spacious, and lovely Carew Castle, half a mile or so close by. The lowering skies say it all!

In our home, dog fur is a fashion accessory! It's also a condiment....... Yay!  Heart
