Should he have played?

Well, how do you feel about the final cap given to W Rooney?

I personally don't think he should have played nah All they have done is make the England Cap a fashion accessory in my opinion.

Not a football fan but feel if he had already left he should not have been let back especially to get a cap.

It was only a friendly...just a way of saying thank you to a great English footballer. It had no detrimental effect on the full international team as they were able to beat Croatia today and so qualify for the finals.....unlike Germany!! Yay!

No harm done, but all too often well known stars fail to recognise that their time in the spotlight has faded, and to continue can be to invite scorn. Usually it involves singers whose voice and tone is not what it was. But footballers are not immune.

Of course he should have played. He might not be the sharpest tool in the box but he still retains his soccer skills..... Unlike Paul Gascoigne who's spotlight faded many years ago, but is never out of the news.
