Germany opening up
#1
Campsites in Germany have returned basically to normal business with minor restrictions such as having to respect social distancing and having to wear a mask when entering sanitary blocks. At the moment it applies to German residents only, but from what I have seen at a local campsite last weekend they are making good use of the opportunity. Few pitches were unoccupied. Reservations are therefore advisable.

The government has announced that German borders will be open to leisure travel from other EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and the UK as from the 15th June.

Their website says that the toilets are open, but the showers are expected to remain closed until 9th June.

We have been invited to go and stay in the guest house by the Thaler’s who owned Jodl Camping on the Ossiachersee. Don’t know how long that will be but a lovely thought by our Austrian friends.

That would be lovely for you both. I know you loved the site so much and became friends of the Thaler’s. Hope you can get there soon

Indications are that German borders to Austria and France, for instance, will re-open on the 15th June for leisure travel without the need to go into quarantine afterwards, so only a few restrictions will remain once you're on the Continent. The border to The Netherlands was never closed and that to Luxembourg has already been re-opened fully.

Thanks Riggers and Lutz. Not so easy to get there as it would mean flying there and don’t know when the Airports and Airlines will be open.

It's more a question of the airlines, not the airports. The airport have remained open all the time for freight. I know because I still get the aircraft flying low over my house on the glidepath to the airport - fortunately fewer than normal because there are hardly any passenger flights-
