This looks a great step in the right direction if it helps combat caravan thefts

I see the chip has been around for a couple of years but strange as I can't remember having seen any publicity about it

I know I have a chip in my caravan as I fitted it myself. Part of the instructions were to place it where it could be scanned through a window, so I think the scanner gun needs to be much closer than this article suggests.
When I mark things, including obscure bits of the caravan, I use my National Insurance Number as Post Codes change should one move home. Some people do have the Post Code in large letters on the roof of their caravan, but I feel that is just saying "This house is unoccupied" to thieves.
