I very rarely watch TV now, instead I watch a lot on U-Tube. I my wanderings I have come across this guy, Rob Braxman Tech. One of his offerings is about what browsers to use to stop outfits like Facebook, tracking you and storing your history. Although never a big fan of Facebook I have had it on my computer for some years. As a result of the video I have now deactivated and deleted Facebook and will look to the rest of the potential security issues on my computer.

That a bit of an eye opener, OP, I've never used Facebook for the security issues, I'll now revert to Firefox again and revise all Google settings.
Like you, I watch more YouTube than TV, I'll subscribe to Rob Braxman as he seems to be quite knowledgeable. Thanks for the info

I've never been tempted to use Facebook. Not because of it's obvious security issues but because of the inane posting by people who want to tell everybody about every minutiae of their boring lives.
I use a family "closed group" on Whatsapp to communicate with our far flung family. I really enjoy that. Also for video calls with friends I use Skype and with family I use Zoom.
Would I use generic Facebook ? --- Not on your nelly.

I certainly will not be deleteing my FaceBook I have scrutinised all my settings and also My Friends. Deleting it would mean I would not be in contact with a lot of my Friends here and abroad. Messenger too is too useful to delete.

Because I heard Facebook mentioned as one reason for dwindling membership of internet forums, I tried it and joined various groups. But I couldn't get used to it. I found members earlier posts seemed to disappear without trace. It seemed not possible to read a topic from start to finish. Having given up on it, it seems impossible to get rid of. Almost every day I get emails telling me how many posts and messages are waiting for me.

How to permanently delete your account:
Click in the top right of Facebook.
Select Settings & Privacy, then click Settings.
Click Your Facebook Information in the left column.
Click Deactivation and Deletion.
