Oxford Vaccine

I saw a poll today asking if folk would have the Oxford vaccination.  The result was that 17% of participants wouldn’t have the jab

The strange thing is that the highest percentage of those saying that they are not going to have the vaccination are those in the most susceptible groups!!?

I don't suppose it will ever be made compulsory, but as time goes on, maybe restrictions will change peoples' mind. Already some airlines have said they will not carry passengers who haven't had the vaccine. Spain has ruled that tickets for cultural and sporting events will only be sold subject to vaccination.

Could it be that due to the restrictions, these people haven't felt the heartbreak that others have and are lulled into a false sense of security. There are also many out there that think they are invincible, a selfish opinion in my view.

I can’t wait to be vaccinated- hopefully by Easter?

The truth though is that just before Christmas we had seen 47750 deaths just 3600 of those aged under 60 and just 388 had no pre existing medical conditions. And of course due the 28 day measure not all those recorded as dying of COVID actually did. Of all deaths 54% were among the over 80s. Many of those who died had pre existing medical conditions. The death rate in the UK in 2020 was running just over 6.9% higher than the 10 year average in a population that sees the over 70’s growing around 2% per annum.

COVID is a serious disease and we all need to be vaccinated ASAP and any death is unwanted. I have regretfully lost an older friend to the disease but when we reflect on the damage this has inflicted on the country in the coming years and reviewing the final statistics, if they remain on the level with the above, I wonder if the conclusion will be that we should have done things differently?

I have just read a report where thousands of retired Doctors and Nurses are trying to apply to give vaccine injects and are prevented by stupid bureaucracy including diversity, dispute resolution, fire safety etc.  One ex Doctor has spent 7 hours wading through this rubbish and has given up.  A nurse who has safely administered thousands of injections had also given up.  It’s about time the government stepped in and stopped this lunacy

My daughter is a serving nurse and was given the opportunity to volunteer for the emergency administration programme. She wants to do it but can't because they want her to commit to three days a week - she gets only two days a week off from her real job.

The Doctors professional body are not happy that the second injection is now being given a lessor priority. They feel that there is a greater chance of the second one being missed all together - leading to much lower level of immunity.
So on one side you have a body of Governmental advisors pushing hard to get more people vaccinated and on the other side other Doctors saying whoa - Don't foul it up by missing out on the need to do that vital 2nd injection!

Its all very confusing!
