Cruel Scam
#1
Have just received notification of a cruel scam that is circulating locally.

If it is true (And I believe that it is) It is a very cruel scam intended to make profit from elderly residents fears!

How many time does one have to tell people not to release their bank details to emails from anybody?

Aimed at elderly people scared by their vulnerability to Covid and desperate to get their jab. Caution can go out the window then!

Like all similar scams,  this one is designed to obtain people's Bank details.  (The NHS will never send a text asking for bank details) .  Anybody giving out their bank details only have themselves to blame. Treat all such texts and emails as suspicious is good advice.

Bessie, Thats fine for you and I, but this scam is specifically targeted at vulnerable and scared older people who may not have the analytical mind that you have. READ THE WARNING It asks that we all make every effort to warn people in that category of this scam.

It does not help one bit for you to just write it off as being their fault if they are taken in! Shame on you!

Good morning TF , You are so predictable in your aggressive personal replies to those whose opinions that you disagree with. May I suggest that you try to discuss the issues in an adult and friendly way. This is a friendly forum and no-body really wants to read about personality grievances. BTW I see nothing wrong with highlighting the following "Treat all such texts and emails as suspicious is good advice".

That’s fine Bessie! I have no problem with that highlighted sentence whatsoever. But with respect we all need to go the extra mile to ensure that those blighters who seek to profit out of other people’s fears are frustrated in their designs.
That is why I maintain that it is not helpful just to write the problem off as it being their own fault that they were taken in. Older people can get confused in such circumstances and we all need to do whatever we can to frustrate the criminally minded.

Personally I wouldn’t think there are that many older people on the Internet receiving emails that are not aware of these scams and what to do about them.

That may be true Dianne but I just wanted to take every opportunity to frustrate these low life’s that prey on the elderly.
Bessie did make a valid point though, and I guess that I do get a tad aggressive when fighting crime. I always have and probably always will.
