Worst Summer In Living Memory?
#11
Its not been to good for me this summer, June had my second hip replaced, all went well, and at last free from pain, went to stay with daughter to recover, something in me did not like what had happened, and my bloods all went haywire , no problem back in hospital filled up with bottles of stuff and soon back with daughter , but at some point I picked up a chest infection. 4weeks latter I am back on the mend. All I can add is having a daughter who is a nurse is a godsend

Pleased to read that you are on the road to recovery, David. Hope that it is not too long before your feel properly well and back to your old self. Take care and all the best.

We have fortunately missed the worst of the latest storm, but have just now had a belter of a thunderstorm, only relatively short with some quite heavy rain, but it was nearly overhead and the bangs were rather loud!! Gasp

I commented re lack of insects this year, well they have made up for that today, strange buzzing noise in kitchen roof, closer look , and I have new neighbors moved in , large ones with yellow stripes called Hornets , Lucky for me I know a man that does, and he kame and did.

We saw our first wasp of the “summer” today (september!!)

Normally inundated with them. Weird.

Must admit we have not seen many, but we have not yet been in any fruit producing areas so far.

We have had a proper summer's day today, lovely and warm with just a very gentle breeze off the sea. We met up with some friends and had a walk along the prom, and ice creams of course, at Rhos on Sea in North Wales. 7

Back to a mixture of rain in the morning and then a fine sunny late afternoon, but it was rather chilly even with the sun out. It was just unfortunate that we were moving sites today so it meant that jobs had to be done between showers. We got away dry but it rained en route and was still drizzling when we got to our new site but it thankfully soon stopped so I didn't get very wet, just a bit damp. This time last year the temperature was double that today's!! Sad

Today has been more like late October than mid September, with very heavy, but short, squally rain showers before the sun eventually came to the fore. The temperature didn't rise above 15C all day and is dropping quite rapidly now. Roll on Winter when we might just get some of the settled weather we are more familiar with!! Yay!
