I have been reading up on the web for a topic on Dash Cams in Europe so thought I would post findings on here too.
Two Countries have a total Ban. Austria and Portugal others have regulations well set out on the Which Website. I hope this helps.

I would love to learn of the thought process that puts a total ban on something that can provide evidence of culpability!

In Austria it is a matter of Privacy laws Austria as you cannot view property on Google Earth either their cameras are banned too.

The information on Germany is not quite correct. The rule about obscuring number plates and people's faces only applies if the footage is shown to a third party, and that includes the police. It does not have to be done for your own viewing.
In reply to Tigerfish's response, privacy laws override evidence of culpability. That's why there are very strict laws regarding CCTV in Germany. As a private citizen only your own private property may appear in any recordings. They must not record, for example, people on a public footpath or in the street in front of your house.

TF those that make these laws are supposed to run the country, I fear common sense is the word missing ,and that is not just here in the UK.
