Loch Ness Shores Camping and Caravanning Club Site has been named the Scottish Caravan Park of the Year for 2017 by Scottish Caravans & Motorhomes magazine.

The award was given to the campsite in recognition of its helpful team, warm welcome and excellent facilities on site.

The pretty 100-pitch site, on the south eastern shore of Loch Ness, is open year round and boasts stunning views of both the loch and North West Highlands beyond. It welcomes thousands of visitors each year and has direct access to the loch, which makes it a great base for fishing and boating holidays.

Two-time winner at the ‘Loo of the Year Awards’ in the Eco Friendly category, Loch Ness Shores also holds a 5* certification with VisitScotland and achieved a Gold Green Tourism Awards when it came top in the Best Environmental Management category. Its facilities block uses a solar thermal system and pioneering water-to-water heat pump. In addition to its popular touring offering with 56 hardstanding pitches, the site also features glamping accommodation with four Wigwam cabins available for hire, plus a range of motor boats and kayaks.

Lyn Forbes, who owns and runs the Camping and Caravanning Club Franchise Site with her husband Donald, said: “We are very proud of this award because we didn’t know about it until it was announced we were being considered.”

Bob Hill, Sites Director at The Camping and Caravanning Club, said: “In the four years since it opened to the public, Lyn, Donald and the team at Loch Ness Shores have worked tirelessly and invested in on-site facilities to offer a camping experience unlike any other in the region.

“The award bestowed on it by Scottish Caravans and Motorhomes magazine is very well deserved.”
